Do You Have One Of Those Lace Dresses?

Tina, here.

You've seen them. Lace dresses. I feel sure you own one or have thought about owning one. I bought mine circa 2009. That's way before they became a thing. Yes, I'm feeling good about that. Add to the "I know it's coming before it gets here" list the comeback of Converse, espadrilles, denim shirts, plaid shirts, white jeans, kick flares, fringe, frayed jeans, and so on. I swear I have collected all these things a few years before they go mainstream. And that's SO IRONIC because I am so not trendy. As soon as these new-old favorites become trends, I'm over it. Now you're wondering what I'm sensing is next in style and fashion? Navajo turquoise jewelry. Spanish-inspired styles. Lace-up espadrilles. And the bootcut is coming back, big. But I digress.

The lace dress. If you don't have one, I still recommend one because they make such versatile dresses. And May offers you plenty of reasons to need a lace dress that can go lots of places.

Here's mine. What I like about it is that it's got this black underlining which I think looks really unexpected under a dusty rose lace dress. Here's a similar lace dress I'm loving this spring (40% off at time of post!).If you want to see more of our must-haves and favorite picks for May, check out the Style Vault.

Here are 3 ways to style your lace dress for some of your upcoming May events.

1. With heels and fancy jewelry for a dressy occasion.

I always like to break up a crew neck on a sheath with a necklace, or two in this case. Pearls and big quartz stones.

The great thing about a lace dress is that it can stand alone without any supporting actors. It is the statement. So for a dressy event like a wedding or a party, I'd just add heels and some fancy jewelry.

2. With a blazer and costume jewelry for a daytime event like a luncheon or casual business meeting

Blazers make a sweet dress a bit more serious, or grown-up or even office-ready. But you still get the feminine quality.

Since I don't wear a lot of color, when I do I like to wear tone-on-tone. Hence the blush blazer over a dusty rose dress. And blush looks good on everyone. Style Vault Insiders can find several blush blazers inside our May Style Vault, a shopping and style service.

I'm still wearing my nude heels. But you could be in flats or wedges, too.

I took some of the fancy jewelry off (pearls) and threw on some bangles in shades of pink, to make the whole outfit feel more fun, but still appropriate for a business event.

3. With a denim jacket and sandals or converse for an easy, casual outing (baseball game? dinner? errands? - just wear it!)

The denim jacket does it again. One of the best wardrobe heroes around! With flip flops for day - I'm not a huge fan of them for evening, unless you're at the beach or super duper casual.

Don't you love the juxtaposition of a lace dress with converse??

You can lose the jacket if you get too warm. I always keep one in my car during spring and summer months because you never know when temps could drop or some restaurant gets crazy with their AC. Insiders can shop our favorite denim jackets in the May Style Vault, Style Notes.
