Easy Holiday Treats : The Lazy Girl's Guide to a Stylish Holiday - Day 5

It's time to stock your pantry with all those little snacks you need on hand so you can ask over friends for drinks before dinner. Or after the concert or play for a nightcap. You'll need some treats. The kind that keep well, i.e. they have a long shelf life.

I'm a big believer in the satisfying power of chocolate and mixed nuts. The secret is in the quality. Buy the expensive nuts and the expensive chocolate. It makes a huge difference. They will taste more like homemade, and your hosting skills will dazzle your guests. They'll say things like, Did you make these? and You make it look so easy!

I always keep dark chocolate almonds, mixed nuts (the kind with cashews because they make a big splash and so few tins have them) and some type of chocolate. For this holiday season, I bought chocolate bark, because you know, Winter Woodland and all.

Be aware of nut allergies and keep something else on hand like cheese and crackers (yes, the expensive kind). Your final tip: bring out your silver and linens. Your little snacks will take on a whole new life being treated with such importance. It's high-low snack style!

Merry, merry!
