My Favorite Holiday Books - The Stylish Girl's Easy Guide to the Holidays - Day 11

Wintertime Sunday's are for church, hot cocoa and reading in front of the fire. I like to add to my holiday book collection every year, and even add to my little friends' collections, too, so that when they are older they'll have what I have: a lifetime of memories with cherished family Christmas books.

My mother kept and stored very carefully our family books. One of my favorites is Take Joy! The Tasha Tudor Christmas Book, with an inscription in it from my mother.

You can start a new "old" collection with these vintage favorites, and who knows, you may rediscover some you knew as a child. I like the jacket designs that are particularly nostalgic to me, and I hope you love them, too!

The Friendly Beasts & A Partridge in a Pear Tree - Two old carols which have become Christmas favorites through the years.

A Christmas Carol - In the history of English literature, Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol, which has been continuously in print since it was first published in the winter of 1843, stands out as the quintessential Christmas story.

The Birds' Christmas Carol - Carol Bird, a Christmas-born child, who as a young girl is unusually loving and generous, and having a positive effect on everyone with whom she comes into contact.

Snowball Fight In The White House - Based on the writings of Mary Donelson, describes the party her great uncle, President Andrew Jackson, gave for the nieces and nephews living with him on his last Christmas in the White House. (The pretty, original cover appears from time to time on eBay.)

Twas The Night Before Christmas - An enchanting holiday poem.

Lucia Morning In Sweden (Tales of St. Lucia) - The story of the Svensson children, including the Lucia song, recipes for ginger snaps and saffron buns, a summary of the Lucia legend, and two patterns for the Lucia gowns.

Snuggle in and cuddle up for a holiday read or two!

Merry, merry!
