Francie's Fall Jean Picks: Dark Rinse and White Jeans

Hello, lovelies!

We are talking about jeans on the blog this week, and today I am showing you fall looks with two of my favorites: white and dark rinse. Both pairs are bootcut, a style that Tina has long said is universally flattering. They are especially good for those of us with curves, because the flare at the bottom balances out our hips. Skinny jeans create an inverted triangle that can make our hips look wider, and no woman I know wants that! Bootcut jeans now come in a range of flare widths. I'm short so my flare is on the narrower end of the bootcut spectrum. As Tina notes in her post this week, the taller and curvier you are, the more flare you can pull off in your bootcut jeans. Style Vault Insiders, I’ve put my favorite bootcut jeans in my fall jeans collection.

White Jeans for Hot Fall Days

How many of you grew up being told not to wear white after Labor Day? That rule has fallen by the wayside though I do think it is worth considering the season, weather, and fabric as you put together outfits. For example, a white linen dress at Halloween that isn’t part of your costume is probably going to look a little strange unless you’re somewhere tropical. White jeans are easy: you can wear them all year. The trick to wearing white jeans in the fall (and winter) is to transition the rest of your outfit from the pastels and bright colors of spring and summer to darker colors and neutrals.

In many parts of the country, cool weather doesn’t arrive at Labor Day so we still need some sleeveless and short-sleeved tops for fall. Here again, choosing a seasonally appropriate color is key. Orange is one of the colors I most associate with fall so it is a natural choice with my white jeans. You can find the shirt I am wearing here. Be forewarned, the material is on the thin side so I’m wearing a camisole under it. I have more shirt options for you in my fall jeans collection, including one in curvy sizes.

If you’re wondering why I am wearing a blue necklace with my orange top, clearly you and I don’t pull for the same football team. My fellow Auburn fans (War Eagle!) totally get it. This is a great necklace because the style is suitable for a variety of outfits from jeans to dresses, and it comes in more than 20 gemstone options. You can find it in my fall jeans collection. Dark Rinse Jeans for a Fall Night Out

In the fall, my go-to jean for a night out with my husband or girlfriends is a dark rinse. Dark jeans are great for day and especially evening. They have a dressier look than a faded rinse.

For a night out, I wear my dark rinse jeans with a going-out (aka silky and/or sparkly) top. Often a pretty silk top that is work attire with a skirt or dress pants can become a going-out top when it is paired with jeans and the right accessories. This top is dressier due to the sequins. I’m embracing my fondness for bling and the fact that live in Nashville where jeans and sequins are wardrobe mainstays.

When you’re dressing up jeans for going out on the town, don’t be afraid to add some glam accessories. I’ve got on sparkly earrings and a big bracelet, and I’m carrying a going-out purse. In the past week, I took this gold clutch to a wedding where I wore a cocktail dress and to dinner when I was wearing white jeans. The more versatile your accessories are, the more you will use them.

My shoes are metallic wedges, which are a great going-out shoe. They add the glam factor but are more comfortable than a regular high heel. If you get the right pair of going-out shoes, you can wear them with dresses and skirts, in addition to jeans and pants, to drive down the cost per wear. Style Vault Insiders, I’ve put a few metallic wedge options in my fall jeans collection for you.

A tip for those of you who are hard to fit because you are height-challenged like me: petite jeans may not be your best option. I almost always wear jeans with wedges or cowboy boots, not flats. Even though I’m only 5’2” and none of my shoes have super high heels (the wedges I’m wearing here are about the highest heel I own), many petite jeans are too short once I put on shoes. So most of the time, I buy regular-sized jeans and have them hemmed.
