Stylish Delights: A Vintage Christmas

Tina, here.

Do you have your tree yet? Or a wreath? There are so many gorgeous Christmas lights in Nashville right now it's quite magical! I've been feeling so nostalgic lately. I wrote about it a little bit last weekend and as I've been listening to Christmas carols around the house, I realize how glad I am for my vintage Christmas theme this year. I need to get more pictures to show you (Krissy my photographer is coming next week!) so I'll show you.

We had such beautiful Christmas decorations growing up. I have always preferred a dear Père Noël or Saint Nicholas to the commercialized Santa Claus. All three figures come to us as secret gift-bearers, but hear this wonderful history of St.Nicholas... he "is said to have rescued three girls from being forced into prostitution by dropping a sack of gold coins through the window of their house each night for three nights so their father could pay a dowry for each of them. Other early stories tell of him calming a storm at sea, saving three innocent soldiers from wrongful execution..." If you squint when you look at my mantel below you just may see the Joyeux Noël garland. And I made the wreath. It was real hard. I found some pinecones and stuck them in the cedar wreath. Then added a brown velvet ribbon. I'll be showing you my little bits of red I popped around the house this Christmas. This is a real first. Red. I've always always used green, no red. But growing and changing is so good for aging. :)

Here are just a few of my favorite vintage-inspired (and some truly vintage) Christmas decorations for this season.
