Spring Party Dresses Have Never Been Prettier + What To Wear To The Season's Events

Tina, here.

Bunnies. Lambs. Chicks. Cherry Blossoms.

Weddings. Brunches. Showers. Graduations.

Spring fêtes are around the corner.  And spring dresses are as pretty as ever this season. Where will you be going? What will you be wearing?

What's old is new again and what's new is nostalgic and romantic. I couldn't be happier to need a Spring Dress. I only need the Spring Party to go with it! Anyone need a plus one?

Yellow is everywhere this Spring. If you have daffodils in your garden, you may see me picking them. Yellow is not as difficult to wear as you may think - the litmus test is, if you feel good in it, wear it! If you don't, then don't! That's what my dear friend Meryll Rose and I decided when we were taping this Spring segment for her TV show. But also, if you look at the veins on the underside of your wrist and they look more green or yellow in tone, as opposed to blue or purple, then you, my dear have warm undertones and can color yourself beautiful in yellow quite nicely. Exception: pale butter yellow looks good on both cools and warms. I have cool undertones but love to wear the palest of butter yellow, like this dress I've had for, oh, about 6 years (similar).

Here I am, tanner and blonder, wearing the same dress about 4 years ago on the blog. See how when you buy right the first time you only cry once? And that cost per wear keeps going down ever time you wear it! Classic always wins the day.

People are always asking what color shoes do you wear with summer dresses? There are two colors that always, always, always work with any dress at all: black patent  (I learned about these from Duchess Kate, and bought them; here's another incredibly comfortable lower heel option that I personally have in 3 colors) and nude. I never recommend matching your dress color exactly to your shoe color like the dyeables you had to buy for that 1990's wedding you were in (UGH that dangling preposition!). I paired navy blue suede heels with my yellow dress this time around for amusement, and I just happen to love my blue suede Jimmy Choos but forget to wear them.

Last Minute Party and Nothing To Wear? No Problem.

What if you need a last minute outfit and can't shop or don't have time to buy something new? Here are a couple outfit suggestions I brought to you a couple years ago, and I am still wearing them!

Most of these items you probably already have in your closet - that's the point. So you don't have to rush out to the Mall or scour the internet last minute and make a mistake purchase out of necessity. Shop your closet! And if you're missing one of these key pieces, or it's time to update, I've found some great suggestions for you.

Can you wear a black dress to a wedding? Yes. IF you accessorize with some light colors like an ivory pashmina and nude pumps. These light touches keep the outfit from looking like you just came from or are headed to a funeral.

No dress? Grab your fanciest black pants and something that sparkles around your face. You've seen me wear this sequin tank at Christmastime, too. Making my clothes work for me!

And if you truly have nothing to wear, you actually do. Black pants + white blouse + sparkly clutch and shoes + all your jewelry = fancy-shmancy outfit!

And what are you never allowed to wear to a wedding?

Uh-uh. Nope. Never. Ever. It's not your day. Mkay cupcakes?
