I've been hunting and gathering t-shirt dresses for the past couple of summers. Don't you love clothes that don't touch you? I know you do because we see gobs of too-big-for-you clothes in every closet. We have this problem with buying clothes that are too big for us in an effort to look smaller, thinking if you wear big clothes you'll look smaller. False. Putting a sack on a body makes the body look like a sack. So that's obvi not what I'm referring to when I talk about loose-fitting t-shirt dresses.

A t-shirt dress is that casual, loose and languid look we're after, here. No muu muus invited. It's more of a, well, long and loose t-shirt. And by "t-shirt" what I mean is any fabric that is comfy and easy to wash. So it could be linen or viscose or washable crepe.

T-shirt dresses are wonderful for those hot and humid days, or the days you want to look pulled-together without the effort. A one-stop dress is like the one dish meal. One and done. No extraneous parts and takes very little fussing to achieve the look. Mine is second-hand from Flip in Nashville, several seasons old. Buy similar below. (Part of the bedrock of our philosophy is, Invest in the classics, wear what you have and reinvent them every season with a few inexpensive trends. Which is why you see me wearing on the blog past-season styles over and over, but in new ways. I don't get paid to wear clothes, so what you see comes from my own closet, and I do the best to find you really good options that I would buy myself. And of course what I am currently buying. Make sense? :) )

Any of these dresses could be dressed up or down, depending on jewelry and shoes. Come fall, toss on a denim jacket.
