Who Wore It Better?

Hey gals! It's Deidre. If you could listen in on some of the conversations Tina and I have, you might hear her telling me not to wear certain boots with certain jeans, and I'd be telling her that I don't care about her rules and that she looks like a boring businesswoman. It's all out of love, though because we fight like sisters. Most of the time our styles are so different that you wouldn't even expect we'd be friends. But every once in awhile, we find an item we both love and naturally, we end up styling it differently.

Today we're showing you three different items we're both kind of obsessed with, and how we wear them differently for our age, body type, and style. You never want to look like you're trying to dress too young, but you also don't want to age yourself. It's all about balance.

So we want to know, who wore it better? Go to our Instagram throughout the day to cast your vote on each of the following looks!

1. Graphic Tee

Never in a million years would I wear a graphic tee with a blue pencil skirt, so why does this look really cute on Tina?! I don't get it. She bought us these tees and I wear it all the time. Naturally, I pair it with ripped jeans, my new plaid jacket and my trusty Converse for a comfy fall day off look. I personally think she wears belts way too often. She has her reasons though. Ha! (Shop these looks via my collection inside Your Syle Vault!)

I think it's so funny that I dressed this way down and she made it business appropriate. We're SO opposite.

2. Off The Shoulder Velvet Top

klc-3291

Velvet is definitely our common ground this season, so when I put this in my cart at TJ Maxx, I grabbed another one for Tina. Yes, we are always buying each other things! That's what stylish, savvy friends are for. (YSV Insiders, I found a very similar top you can shop inside the Vault!)

You'll notice we both gravitated toward pairing this top with grey instead of black. Sometimes I break Tina's black/primary color rule (which you'll notice in #3) but this top is so bold and makes a statement, so pairing it with grey softens the look. Black would be a little harsh with it and would look like you were trying too hard to be "Christmasy".

I ditched the ripped jeans because my dark skinnies are a little dressier. Tina of course chose a bootcut pant. (How businesswoman of her!)

You'd never know that ten minutes before this, I was about to kill her for being late to our shoot. Like I said, sisterly fighting! You can't stay mad at each other for long.

And FYI- I scored these grey suede Prada booties for $120 at Last Chance in Phoenix. (Best store EVER if you really like to hunt for cheap designer goods!) They retail for over $900! But I found two similar, less expensive options and added them to my collection inside the Vault! You've gotta have grey bootie.

3. Draper James Plaid Pencil Skirt

klc-3280

Never in a million years would someone describe me as preppy, but you might think that about me if I told you I was going to wear a plaid pencil skirt. So I kept it edgy by doing that whole yin-yang thing. Instead of wearing this with a cardigan sweater or something equally conservative, I opted for a grey crop tee and a vegan leather moto jacket. Tina calls that juxtaposition. I just say yin-yang.

Her look really is perfect for a holiday party, with the pretty white top and dressier shoe. There she goes wearing a belt again, but I actually think that one is perfect in this case! (Not that she really cares what I think. She's the pro after all.)

We both fell in love with this skirt (one of Tina's December must-haves inside the Vault where you can shop our favorite outfits) because of the slit on the side and because it's just plain flattering. Purchase it here from the Draper James website and shop the rest of our looks inside the Vault! (Not an Insider? Sign up for a free trial and see what all the fuss is about!)

We are living proof that certain items can work for different styles and ages, but you have to style it appropriately. Don't forget to cast your votes on our Instagram photos throughout the day. We love a good competition. Thanks for reading! Have a great hair & outfit day and go buy your bestie something cute. It will make her day.

xo,

Deidre
