My Journey as a Wardrobe Consultant

Tina, here.

Almost ten years ago I began my journey as a wardrobe consultant, walking into my first client's closet to wrangle her outdated and unflattering pieces (we all have them lurking in our closets) and reimagine the amazing pieces that had been hiding in there, that needed to be reinvented and worn in fresh, new ways. She became a dear friend (like so many of my clients do), and we marvel at how this business of helping women be their most stylish selves started that November evening, in one Nashville closet.

As more women started inviting me, and eventually my team of some of the loveliest, kind-hearted women - and most stylish - I've known, into their closets to do the same thing, to get rid of the tired and worn-out pieces (sometimes it takes hiring a 3rd party to tell you the truth about wearing skinny jeans), and provide a shopping experience like no other (It fits! I love it and would have never picked it myself! And it's on sale!), we found ourselves on a mission. You'll hear me tell anyone who wants to work with us that this job is really about caring for women, as much as it is about fashion. That same voice is in our heads, too, Am I too old to wear this top? Do skinny jeans make me look hippy? Will this still be in style a year from now? Why does the sales associate keep bringing me things I don't like? I wanted to keep using my counseling degree in a different field, and this would be perfect. We even worked out exclusive deals with the shops we love who now pass our would-be commission as stylists on to our clients. It's a triple win, a win for our clients, the stores who get new business, and for us who keep loyal clients happy.

But we knew we could do more.

I started this blog to stay connected to our clients in between appointments. To remind us of little things we talked about in their closets, like Capris are evil. You really do look better in a v-neck than a crew neck. Yes, you can wear kick flares, but it's best to wear them like this. No, yoga pants aren't really pants; they're just tights masquerading as pants. And so on. We started getting requests to fly to other cities to give women treatment for outdated (or just plain wrong) wardrobes. We've had clients fly us to Chicago, LA, NY, and lots of places in between. That's a lot of fun, but not really feasible. So we knew there had to be a way we could do more to help more women.

And so we launched the Style Vault. Now women can have 24/7 access to our service. You get to see all the styles we're loving and why we think you need to be buying them, get direct access to purchase (no more useless trips to the mall or hours wasted trolling the web because we've vetted the choices, and all the best finds for every shape live right here!), and see how to wear it all in style.

And now we have even more to show you. We've revamped the Style Vault, dolls! And we've made it bigger and better with a new experience, your Style Vault Complete.  You'll be shopping even more categories like skincare, beauty, jewelry, handbags, shoes, and so much more. There are budget finds and luxe finds; styles for all sizes and shapes, and you'll still find all our favorite modern classics, with some fun modern trends, too. And for all you who feel like nothing fits, we have a special place for you, too. We're real women, who are real sizes, and we happen to be real stylists. So you still get all the fabulous style and honest advice you know us for.

Thank you for being such a special part of my journey as a wardrobe consultant. Here's to our future together!
Best,
Tina
